I would like to say again how much I love this Language learning site. I personally enjoy the banter, but there are billions of people in the world and I noticed that some people above don't like it. I am an older student, and it has taken me a long time to get used to blogs, facebook etc. I am really taken aback how impolite some people can be online. I think we should all have Skype; I bet people would not be so scathingly honest if they were making eye contact. Mo ichido, arigato gozaimasu.

Loved this lesson, great teaching of distinction between formal and informal. I find myself learning lots of formal as I learn Japanese, but then not understanding when people speak to me informally. Thanks.

Hi Matt,
I checked the link to the informal audio and it appears to be working fine - if you are still unable to download it, please try logging out, clearing the cache and cookies of your browser, and trying the download again :)

この　レソン　は　とても　楽しい　です　よ！

Thank you very much for giving me a good laugh during my lunch break. I have heard today a few things that I haven't heard in many years. This has provided a bright spot to help offset all the ugly things going on here in Washington, DC...

ありがとう　ございます！

Hi all!

Back in lesson 22, we learnt to drop "i" and add "kute" to i-adjectives when combining them together.

Here, we drop the "i" and add "kunai" to form the negative.

How do we do both - and string together several negative i-adjectives together? I saw Sakura-san's post half way down this topic relating to "shi" - can we still use this?

Thanks.

And thanks for these brilliant lessons. I get two hours of your lovely voices each weekday, you'll be pleased to know.

Jon-san,

"納豆は食べたことがありませんが、食べてみたいです。" would be perfect! Or just "納豆を食べてみたいです" would be fine!

I also like the informal track as well, although I hope there is also a transcript (ok, I am greedy).....

Speaking of 納豆, how do I say I've never tried it but would like to? I guess it's too complicated for beginner level but still it's nice to know.

I constructed something like "納豆は試しに食べません" for I haven't tried but it seems no one speaks like that....

Jillさん>
Thanks for the nice comment! Using the tags you can find a whole bunch of dialogs that use informal Japanese

OH! I really really enjoyed the informal bonus trackt thingy! that totally sounds like something you'd hear in a dorama! hahaha and I have to admit i really really REALLY enjoy watching japanese dorama haha
とてもだいすきだよ！:kokoro:

I really hope we get much much more of these 'informal versions' in the future - because it does sound quite different to the formal way of speaking and that way one can get used to it way better.

thanks a lot again from the bottom of my heart - you guys are so much help!
:dogeza:
love :kokoro: Jill

It is VERY good idea to add an informal version of the dialogue in the bonus. I think you should keep doing it for the next lessons on as well.Thank you guys!
